Black Magick SS – Rainbow Nights (Review)

PSYCH ROCK / DARK WAVE / BLACK METAL Defining the Black Magick SS is an inhumane undertaking. However, a few small clarifications are possible: Australian band, unknown identities.

Behind two discs that cannot be found in physical format, very colorful and full of swastikas, name taken from an atrocious B-movie from the 70s. Well, I’d say we can get started! The style of Black Magick is the result of an orgy between the synths of an 80s detective, 60s psych rock and (why not?) A melancholy sprinkle of dark wave, all crowned by black metal vocals and lead by guitar screaming Iron Maiden. Tons of compression and reverberation await the poor unsuspecting listener, who will find himself catapulted into a world of hallucinogens, Satanism, rituals and invocations to the worst gods in existence. All of this in a catchy and irresistible format, which makes Rainbow Nights another retro-rock gem of the band. HippieNazi? Eco-fascist music? To posterity the arduous task of defining the Black Magick. All we have to do is enhance its musical exploits. Dedicated to those who have a strong taste for trash and don’t like to take themselves too seriously.
