Through the leaves is the second single from Archie Sagers’ debut album. Influenced by the driving bass lines of Peter Hook (Joy Division and New Order) and the guitar work of Robert Smith (The Cure), the title track provides a post-punk energy which drives the song forward. With an accompanying music video, filmed in isolation, composed of psychedelic visuals of the Wiltshire countryside.

The B-Side, Nothing at All, displays the opposite feeling; with one Archie’s most relaxed and warm songs to date. Grant Gillingham, star of the labels roster with his debut album under the name Baltimore at an Angle, provides his vocals with their signature sentiment. A striking music video has also been created by Archie for this song. Contrasting bright washed out visuals with stark black and white imagery of his surrounding area in Wiltshire. Showing brightness and warmth can be found anywhere in these challenging times.

Finally Free is the third and final single from Archie Sager’s debut album. It represents the largest sound out of the three tracks and describes the feeling of floating aimlessly through life, but with a hint of purpose escalating towards the end of the track. The music video gives the track new meaning, with stock footage from the Apollo launches overlaid on top of each other to create a retro, celestial atmosphere.

Taking influence from bands such as: The Cure, DIIV, Joy Division and The Chameleons. Archie Sager’s debut album reflects on his life so far, combining Dream Pop and Shoegaze with Indie hooks and slowing down for more Ambient sections inspired by Eno.

This album is about the period between childhood and adulthood. Questioning yourself, meeting new people and finding a purpose all impose looming challenges. Whether it’s the fear of leaving “I Don’t Wanna Leave Home” the feeling of being stuck without a purpose “Finally Free” and “Stuck in the Void” or finding a guiding hand “I Found You.” The songs also pause on moments of peace “Beneath the Surface” and “Cherry Blossom” where the worries of the world don’t seem to matter. Archie Sagers’ debut album is about accepting change around you and enjoying experiences for what they are. I hope you can all welcome the steady march of time and experience a “Happy New Year”

Three singles from the album have been previously released (Beneath the Surface, Through the Leaves and Finally Free) with the second single being picked up by the spotify editorial team.

The first single from their upcoming album may sound familiar to fans of the label is it is co-written by the labels founder. Mercvrial’s debut LP, Brief Algorithms, will be available on limited edition white vinyl beginning April 29, 2022.

Mercvrial’s debut LP is an amalgamation of a myriad of sub-genres – from post-punk and dream pop to neo-psychedelic and mod – reflecting a wide array of influences, including most notably: The Chameleons, Echo and the Bunnymen, Rain Parade, Ride and House of Love.

Two and a half years removed from the Rosarito, Mexico-based group’s debut EP – The Stars, Like Dust – Brief Algorithms represents a modest stylistic departure for the band.

By The Sky was written during the final lockdown of 2021 and recorded in Studio A at Sussex the moment Archie was allowed to visit the studio again.

It’s the first track by Archie to feature live drums (performed by Leon Bounds). The track features dreamy “Cure-inspired” guitars, driving bass, swirling synths and punchy drums; it is written about Archie’s first year at university.
