This Butthole Surfers bass guitar sounds awesome! Let’s put some synth and bass guitar together.” That was the main impetus for creating this song—the craving for a fuzzed-out bass guitar. Over the years, we’ve realized that our songs are birthed in pairs. “Your Smile is a Hoax” is the sister to another Psychic Graveyard track off this upcoming album called “Haunted By Your Bloodline”. Both feature the use of two low-register instruments playing off of each other, with a higher synth note popping obnoxiously out of the mix. We feel as though it helps keep the chaos grounded. Those higher swirl elements come from a forgotten field recording of an ambulance passing by Nate’s house in San Diego. Lyrically, it fills in the listener on some of our experiences as an afflicted band in today’s world, traveling all over the place while we’re wounded, but somehow having a blast while we’re out there—bleeding everywhere.

Techno-EBM producer Black Asteroid has signed with Artoffact Records and announced a new album, Infinite Darkness!

The highly-anticipated and truly original crossover record goes where techno has never gone before. Guitars and vocals are featured prominently, alongside a wall of modular synths to create solid machine-driven grooves and atmospheres that coalesce with the live performances – a sound that is uniquely Black Asteroid. Produced over the span of five years, the album features incredible talent, including Ian Astbury of The Cult, ACTORS, Louisahhh, Michele Lamy, Front Line Assembly, Blush Response, and Speedy J.

On today’s new track and the collaboration with ACTORS, Bryan Black (aka Black Asteroid) shares: “During Covid, I went back to my love and passion for songs. For vocals. For danger. For soul. I discovered ACTORS around this time, and sent the singer an instrumental I had been picking at for a few years. He sent it back, and with a guitar too!”

Reflecting candidly on his second album, Black comments: “This record is a full circle back to 1994 when I released my first record. 30 years later, I can still hear the same person and sound making this record in 2024.”

The legendary Canadian electro-industrial powerhouse group, Cyberaktif, has resurfaced from the depths of the members’ respective successes and is already making history again. The band has announced their first release in over 30 years and not even a month later, it has broken the record for the most pre-ordered album in Artoffact Records’ label history!

In lieu of founding member Dwayne Goettel’s untimely passing in 1994, cEvin Key (Skinny Puppy) and Bill Leeb / Wilhelm Schroeder (Front Line Assembly) have maintained the group’s supergroup status, completing the lineup with Rhys Fulber (Front Line Assembly / Delerium producer) for this album, which was produced by Greg Reely (Delerium, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy).

Once described by Key as “the experience of discovering the whole electronic genre,” Cyberaktif’s last and only other release (under their original lineup) was 1991’s ‘Tenebrae Vision’, which also saw a guest appearance from Blixa Bargeld of the well known German industrial band Einstürzende Neubauten.

Vancouver’s FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY drop a new remix of their 2018 hit single ‘Mechvirus’ featuring vocals written and recorded by labelmates ULTRA SUNN!

Lending their signature sound and vocals to the track, ULTRA SUNN brings a new life to the song – originally released on FLA’s 2018 album, WarMech – with lyrics based on the human relationship with truth.

On the new track, the band comments:
“We loved working on this remix. Front Line Assembly really does research into very specific sound material and particularly for this track.

Adding vocals was quite natural for us. We wrote a text about the relationship with the truth. When two people share a moment, they are actually the only ones who have the truth, no matter how it has been twisted afterwards.

We are happy to have been able to use these ingredients and put our sound, our signature on it. We made it a danceable tune with our “Sound of Belgium” heritage, while trying to bring a freshness of our time.”
