Dry Cleaning release ‘Let Me Grow and You’ll See The Fruit’, the third single/video from their new album, Secret Love, out 9th January.

Following ‘Cruise Ship Designer’ and ‘Hit My Head All Day’, today’s single offers a gentler side to Dry Cleaning. ‘Let Me Grow and You’ll See The Fruit’ was one of the first songs written for Secret Love and is inspired by 60s folk act Pentangle, 2001: A Space Odyssey, ancient Roman poet Virgil, Robyn Rocket, and Joanna Sternberg.

Lyricist Florence Shaw says, “The song is about hyper focus and loneliness. It’s confessional, like a diary entry, written in a stream of consciousness style.

‘Let Me Grow and You’ll See The Fruit’ is accompanied by another BULLYACHE-choreographed dance video, this time with Chicago-based experimental jazz and metal musician Bruce Lamont taking centre-stage. Lamont’s saxophone contribution can be heard throughout much of ‘Let Me Grow…’.

Secret Love is the finest expression yet of the profound friendships between frontperson Florence Shaw, guitarist Tom Dowse, drummer Nick Buxton and bassist Lewis Maynard. Here, the south London four-piece take their place in rock’s avant garde, catalysing the Reaganite paranoia of early 80s US punk and hardcore with the dry strut of Keith Richards, stoner rock, dystopian degradation, playful no wave and pastoral fingerpicking, while Florence’s delivery, meticulously calibrated to her bandmates’ soundscapes, asserts her in a lineage of spoken-word artists stretching from Laurie Anderson to Life Without Buildings’ Sue Tompkins.

Alongside this announcement, the band are announcing the rescheduling of their North American tour dates, and have issued a statement about this decision:

Aside from the great pleasure of sharing ‘Let Me Grow…’ with you all today, it is with heavy hearts that we must also share some important news.

We have had to make the difficult decision to move our Jan/Feb ‘26 US tour to May. This is due to a number of factors, not least of which the increasingly hostile economic forces that govern touring in the present day.

Thankfully we have managed to reschedule the majority of the original shows and all tickets will remain valid, if that suits you, and refunds available if it does not. Regrettably, we have been unable to make this work for all dates due to the shortened routing. Refunds will be available from your place of purchase and we will do everything in our power to play for you as soon as we can.

Thank you for your patience and continued support. Love, D.C

Today, North Carolina based singer-songwriter Anjimile releases a new single ‘Auld Lang Syne II’. The track, produced by Brad Cook (Waxahatchee/Mavis Staples), is the first release since his emotionally raw 2023 album The King, picking up where he left off with a tender note-to-self on resilience and hard-fought freedom, characterized by delicate finger-plucked strings, charming horn passages, and intimate vocal delivery.

+ Listen to Auld Lang Syne II on all digital platforms now

Anjimile shares: “Auld Lang Syne II was originally intended as something of a wedding present for my best friend, who got married a few years back. During the writing process, though, it transformed into something of a musing on the bittersweet nature of the passage of time – not just for my friend and her husband, but for me and my family and my close relationships”

With The King (2023), Anjimile’s debut release for 4AD, Chithambo intensified his examination of Black and trans existence amid personal and societal turbulence, reaffirming his courageous commitment to navigating discomfort as a means of liberation. Anjimile took The King on the road in 2023, playing headline dates across the US as well as Pitchfork Music Festival in both London and Paris. The release of ‘Auld Lang Syne II’ marks a new era for Anjimile – one of joy and freedom, the result of embracing change and transformation whilst holding onto tenderness and vulnerability. Palpable in the energy of this new music, Anjimile returns by asking: what happens when you let go and let love in?

Anjimile (ann-JIM-uh-lee) Chithambo has forged a distinctive musical path characterised by unflinching introspection and deep honesty. Emerging from Boston’s vibrant indie scene while studying at Northeastern University, Anjimile captivated audiences with earnest songwriting, delicate sonic textures, and performances that felt like prayer and celebration. His star rose when their 2018 NPR Tiny Desk Concert contest entry was deemed the best out of Boston. Further critical acclaim quickly followed; 2020’s Giver Taker, hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the year’s best albums, positioned him as a compelling voice exploring enduring themes of spirituality, identity, and liberation. After releasing a collection of covers, Reunion (2021), featuring renditions by Jay Som, Sasami, and Lomelda, Anjimile tested new material on the road while opening for artists like Jose Gonzalez, Tune-Yards, and Hurray for the Riff Raff.

Back in print for the first time since 1990, both the standard and deluxe editions are rounded out with 2025 Kevin Vanbergen remasters of the original tracklisting, and deluxe edition artwork designed by Chris Bigg featuring original artwork by v23 (Vaughan Oliver and Chris Bigg). Limited edition Lush merchandise (two T-shirts, pin badges, and posters) is also available for pre-order, exclusively via the 4AD webstore.

The Gala 35th Anniversary Edition follows the 2023 remasters of Lush’s three studio albums — SpookySplit, and Lovelife; find more information here. Last year, Lush also partnered with the Criterion Channel on the release of A Far From Home Movie, a short film created by bassist Phil King and shared in memory of Chris Acland, which compiles candid Super8 footage taken by King during Lush’s tours from 1992-1996; available to watch on YouTube now.

“With their strumming swathed in electronic reverberation and other effects, Lush creates an undertow of opulent and churning harmony. Above it float Ms. Berenyi’s airy lead vocals and Ms. Anderson’s weightless descant, their chiming, overlapping lines calmly sketching disillusionment amid the maelstrom of guitars.”
– The New York Times (1990)

“From the early standout ‘Sweetness and Light’ to the swooping beauty of ‘De-Luxe’ to the enjoyable romp through Abba’s ‘Hey Hey Helen,’ Gala is one continued win.”
–
Pitchfork [The 50 Best Shoegaze Albums of All Time, #8]

“From the twisting stab of ‘De-Luxe’, the controlled thrash of ‘Downer’ or the heady swirl of ‘Thoughtforms’, Lush seemed like the perfect creation, right down to the beautiful Vaughan Oliver v23 artwork.”

Jenny Hval, on Gala –

I first discovered Gala at a record store in Oslo, possibly in late 1995 or early 1996. By then I was already a devoted Lush fan and had listened extensively to their Split and Spooky LPs. The 15-year-old me had played the Hypocrite EP to death on my CD player. Yet this album was a revelation: My first ever compilation LP, just as I thought I had understood what an album could be.

A compilation of three early EPs doesn’t necessarily sound very artistic. But this one is. As a compilation, Gala is more of an essay in music form than a unified narrative or sound. It is a collage, a puzzle, not just hinting at what was to come, but what could have been – different directions. The track listing contains two songs, ‘Thoughtforms’ and ‘Scarlet’, that had been recorded twice, something that blew my young mind, as if I saw a glimpse of the multiverse. Emma Anderson’s Thoughtforms was first recorded for the Scar EP/mini album in 1989, and then rerecorded for another EP, Mad Love, the following year. Listening to both versions allowed me to become a teen critic: I started to question why and how the second Thoughtforms was both sped up and amped up in Robin Guthrie’s Mad Love production. I finally decided I loved both versions, but preferred the first, because it was slower, sounded freer and deeper, and Miki Berenyi’s vocals were given more space. The comparison gave me a deeper understanding of Spooky, the album produced by Guthrie in 1992. It made me question, or perhaps dream, of what Spooky could have been.

This simple repetition of songs emphasises the adventurous nature of Lush. The distinct differences in production between the three EPs showcased on Gala creates a playful, disarming album pacing. It also pushes Lush beyond genre, beyond stereotypes of «shoegaze», and beyond the 4AD aesthetic of the iconic, colourful logos and floaty, wavelike patterns. In retrospect, the compilation becomes both documentary and dream. It is an overview of a band existing in a specific scene in a specific era, exploring their music’s potential like the different arms of a star.

In retrospect, my favourite songs on Gala are the opening trio of songs (Anderson’s ‘Sweetness and Light’ and ‘Sunbathing’, and the Anderson/Berenyi co-write ‘Breeze’), taken from the Tim Friese-Greene-produced Sweetness and Light. I adore Friese-Greene’s work, and the glittering guitars, voice harmonies and dynamics create a sublime sonic canvas. But production aside, these three songs present a striking, yet understated, expression of sensuality. The lyrics sometimes float by, then hit you with a striking image («Breathe in green velvet, my lips taste warm earth» on «Breeze»), and the vocal lines intertwine, call and respond, come too close to each other and move away.

I listen to these songs today as I listened to them in the mid-90s, and feel the same things touching me: The effervescence of the sun hitting my skin, drops of sweat and saltwater drying on my neck, the smell of a borrowed, unwashed t-shirt and wet sandals after a swim. I listen to both versions of «Thoughtforms» again and dive into layers of sparkly guitars. Gala is intimate, yet stargazing, intricate and romantic, almost punk but with soft dissonances. It’s early 1990s impressionism. Make it yours.

Today, Lush’s film A Far From Home Movie, is available to watch on YouTube, having premiered previously on The Criterion Channel,. Shared in celebration of the life of Chris Acland, the film compiles candid super8 footage taken by Phil King during Lush’s time touring from 1992-1996.

+ Watch A Far From Home Movie on YouTube

As King wrote: “By the time I joined Lush at the end of 1991, they had already played around 190 shows in their four year career – and would go onto play another 320 or so before drummer Chris Acland’s tragic and untimely death in October 1996. I would often take my trusty Sankyo Super 8 camera on tour with me – and since film was costly would try and make sure to shoot footage sparingly. Hopefully this film captures the excitement (and boredom) of being on tour – and, sadly in retrospect, I hope that it serves as a fitting memorial to a much missed by us all Chris.”

Built around the songwriting talents of Emma Anderson and Miki Berenyi, Lush successfully defined a myriad of 90s scenes such as shoegaze, dream pop and Britpop before they disbanded in 1998. A much-loved band who briefly reformed in 2016, recent years has seen a new, young audience fall in love with their music after discovering it via TikTok, Spotify et al.

Last year marked the momentous return of Lush’s studio albums to print, with all three records released on vinyl — outside of a lavish Record Store Day career retrospective boxset in 2016, all three studio albums – Spooky (1992), Split (1994), and Lovelife (1996) – had been unavailable on vinyl since the 90s, until now. With demand high, the band enlisted renowned engineer/producer Kevin Vanbergen to help them remaster their catalogue, starting with their studio albums (with utilization of the original ½” production tapes for source material, transformed into brand new 24-bit masters that perfectly capture the thrill of the originals).

2025 celebrates the 35th anniversay of Gala.  Lush’s Gala was the band’s debut compilation album, comprising their earliest releases — Scar (1989), Mad Love (1990), and Sweetness and Light (1990) — in reverse chronological order, plus two additional tracks (a cover version of ABBA’s ‘Hey Hey Helen’ and the extended Robin Guthrie mix of Scar track ‘Scarlet’).

Originally released in 1990 as the band’s introduction to the US and Japanese markets, the compilation’s 35th anniversary is being celebrated with a 2025 reissue, formatted both on Standard LP/CD and as a Deluxe Edition Coloured Vinyl 3×12” and 7”, to be released tomorrow on14th November.

Irish musician Maria Somerville shared her second album and debut project on 4AD, Luster, in April. A few months on from its release, Somerville now announces a brand new Luster (Remixes) EP, due 21 January. In total, the EP gives six tracks off Somerville’s already mesmerizing, wind-swept record new life in fitting, and sometimes surprising ways via its enlisted cast of friends and collaborators (Seefeel, YHWH Nailgun, Fatshaudi, colle, Asa Nisi Masa & Oscar18, and Boris).

+ Pre-save Luster (Remixes) on all digital platforms now

Alongside the announcement, today finds the release of three remix tracks off the EP — Seefeel’s slow-burning ‘Stonefly’ remix, where the track is extended over 7-minutes with crackling synths and whispered cosmological refrains; colle’s (Maya McGrory of Chanel Beads) ‘Projections’ remix, where she adds to the longing inherent of the single with delicately plucked strings and lightly swirling feedback; and Brisbane-based underground dream-pop artist Fatshaudi’s (aka Rachael Ryan) swooning and romantic remix of ‘Up’, where she takes the track to an even glossier, more atmospheric plane.

2. Projection (colle Remix)
3. Up (Fatshaudi Remix)
4. Violet (YHWH Nailgun Remix)
5. Corrib (Asa Nisi Masa, Oscar18 Remix)
6. October Moon (Boris Remix)

Maria Somerville’s Luster, the otherworldly yet grounded record including atmospheric and whirring dreamgaze singles ‘Spring’ and ‘Garden’, channels her experiences on the bank of the Corrib in her native Connemara, Ireland and pays homage to the sonic tapestry woven by classic 4AD collective This Mortal Coil. In the short time since its release, the critically acclaimed record has seen a Best New Music accolade from Pitchfork and a glowing Guardian review, among other pieces of praise such as being named one of The FADER’s ‘30 coolest artists right now’, and Clash and Loud & Quiet’s best albums of 2025 so far.

In continued celebration of Luster, Maria Somerville will hit the road next Spring, with continued dates across the United States (including Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN), the UK, and her native Ireland (headline dates in Limerick, Dublin, and Galway). In addition, she has just been announced as support on two of My Bloody Valentine’s UK/EU tour dates this November (Manchester and Dublin), which fittingly follows her naming the band’s seminal record Loveless as her Pitchfork Perfect 10. This forthcoming run follows highly touted sold-out 2025 shows in New York and London amidst other buzzy headline dates across the UK/EU/US (with shows alongside Chanel Beads, james K, and others). See the full list of Maria Somerville’s upcoming tour dates below and find more information HERE.

Today, Dry Cleaning share ‘Cruise Ship Designer’, the second single from their new album Secret Love, out 9 January 2026. The new track follows lead single ‘Hit My Head All Day’ and arrives alongside a music video featuring the band’s Lewis Maynard performing a dance routine choreographed for the track by BULLYACHE. ‘Cruise Ship Designer’ is a classic Dry Cleaning pop song sung from the perspective of a nautical entrepreneur who has deluded himself that his work serves society, its perky careerism also channelling some of XTC’s ‘Making Plans for Nigel’.

“Dry Cleaning provide a voice for people who are at their wits’ end but not yet beyond a wry smile at the absurdity of modern life.” – Crack

“They’re one of a kind.” – NME *****

“Dry Cleaning is one of the best living bands.” – Paste

“It’s good to have them back.” – THE FACE

Vocalist and lyrcists Florence Shaw elaborates: “The song is about a cruise ship and hotel designer who’s skilled and paid well, but who doesn’t believe his role has real worth. He tries to enjoy it, and invests himself in meeting the challenges of the job.

Today, the band also announce a run of outstore performances across the UK for January 2026. Ticket bundles are available via the bands website and will go on sale at 10am GMT tomorrow, Wednesday 12 November. See outstore dates below, and for tickets head here.

The outstore run precedes an extensive North American, European and UK tour that includes the group’s biggest headline shows at LA’s Wiltern and London’s O2 Academy Brixton. We’re delighted to announce a collaboration between 4AD & LA based jewellery designer J. Hannah.

+ Available to pre-order now on the J. Hannah website here

Created to commemorate our 45th anniversary, this piece unites two enduring traditions of identity and authenticity: the signet and the hallmark. Once used to seal documents and signify identity, the signet ring has long served as a vessel for personal and cultural expression. Hallmarks, first formalized in 14th-century England, emerged as stamps of authenticity and quality in precious metals.

A convergence of histories, each ring bears three marks: 4AD, the storied record label logo originally designed by Vaughan Oliver; 925, the official standard for sterling silver; and 45, a nod to our past.

The classic, round unisex signet is designed as a commemorative heirloom for daily wear. The ring face measures 12mm in diameter. Crafted in 100% sterling silver or available in 14k or 18k gold upon request.

J. Hannah is a Los Angeles-based jewellery and multidisciplinary label designed and founded by Jess Hannah Révész. J.Hannah’s collections focus on craft and form with a spirit of interdisciplinary experimentalism—merging the timelessly familiar with the contemporary.

J. Hannah has partnered with notable institutions such as A24, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and LACMA and can be found in the Jewish Museum, The Museum of Art & Design, and the MoMA Design Store, as well as select fashion and beauty specialty stores around the world.

— Rolling Stone
“Big Thief achieves greatness once again on Double Infinity

In September, Big Thief released their “thoughtful and moving” (NPR Music) new album, Double Infinity. The album quickly garnered widespread praise from fans and critics alike, including The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Paste, Stereogum, and more, with the latter praising the album as “life-affirming.” Now, on the heels of the band’s sold out Forest Hills Stadium show—their largest New York headline show to date—they share their performance of the “attention-grabbing stunner,” (AV Club) “Grandmother” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The song was performed by an impressive 12-piece band including Lenker, Meek, Krivchenia, Joshua Crumbly, Laraaji, Jon Nellen, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, June McDoom, Alena Spanger, Michael Buishas, and Adam Brisbin.

Last night’s performance captures Big Thief’s magical energy on tour, which continues in Raleigh tomorrow night. The extensive tour has included stops at Berkeley’s The Greek Theater, Los Angeles’s The Hollywood Bowl, Boston’s MGM Music Hall, and their first-ever show in Mexico at Teatro Metropolitan.
