Taking influence from bands such as: The Cure, DIIV, Joy Division and The Chameleons. Archie Sager’s debut album reflects on his life so far, combining Dream Pop and Shoegaze with Indie hooks and slowing down for more Ambient sections inspired by Eno.

This album is about the period between childhood and adulthood. Questioning yourself, meeting new people and finding a purpose all impose looming challenges. Whether it’s the fear of leaving “I Don’t Wanna Leave Home” the feeling of being stuck without a purpose “Finally Free” and “Stuck in the Void” or finding a guiding hand “I Found You.” The songs also pause on moments of peace “Beneath the Surface” and “Cherry Blossom” where the worries of the world don’t seem to matter. Archie Sagers’ debut album is about accepting change around you and enjoying experiences for what they are. I hope you can all welcome the steady march of time and experience a “Happy New Year”

Sunspire is Jack Jazrawry-Brown from the British countryside (Wiltshire). He currently lives in Birmingham and creates dream pop music with influences of lofi hip/hop from his university bedroom. His debut album “Ruins By The Sea” is set to be released, as a cassette on our label Crafting Room Recordings, in May of this year.

“Wildflowers is one of the more abstract tracks on the album, painting a picture of a night of dimly remembered beauty and vague travels through dark streets. Present too is a more general sense of days slipping past unnoticed, passing through life in a state of meditative calm as the world falls to chaos in the background.

Wildflowers features two primary sounds: swirling glide guitar and heavily chorused synths, tied together by driving sidechained drums and weighty bass. The vocal production is sparse, allowing the lyrics to cut through the flowing wash of sound below. The song is held back in the verse, allowing the lead part to soar when the chorus kicks in.”

Written and recorded by Sunspire (Jack Jazrawy-Brown) in university halls, Wildflowers paints a picture of a night of dimly remembered beauty and hazy travels through dark streets. On this track, Sunspire combines his haunting vocals with a fast paced and upbeat style, the result of half a year spent honing his songwriting and production. Throughout, swirling synths and flowing, multi-tracked guitars build to a climactic chorus, with memorable lyrics and a catchy hook-filled melody.

Creature In The Spiral is a dream pop artist from Texas, USA. Raul Gonzalez Jr has been creating catchy pop songs in his bedroom studio under this name for years now. I’ve been a fan since I first heard his “Islands Vol 1” album back in 2019 and we’re honoured to release his music as a cassette on Crafting Room Recordings.

Side A consists of the Dec E.P. (originally released December 7th 2020) and Side B is the Feb E.P. with an exclusive bonus track (originally released February 5th 2021)

Björn Falk conjures up images of 60s garage rock with elements of folk and shoegaze creeping into some tracks. Love ballads populate the release with angst and emotion smothered over the duration of the tape. Björn creates beautiful and heart-wrenching songs in Studio Elenette, Sweden.

We’re thrilled to be working with Björn Falk and his wonderful label “Yellow Step Records” from Sweden again to create a wonderful series of tapes. In August of last year we released his debut E.P. “Rock’n’Roll For Hopeless Romantics” and we are now releasing his second “Rock’n’Roll For Lovestruck Buffoons” as a O-Card cassette.

The double sided cassette and vinyl 7″ artwork call back to the 60s garage rock era with their homely comfort. The C10 cassette features a vintage O-Card and an identical A and B side.

Included in this release is the bonus track “Sorgenfri”

“See You In My Sleep” is the third and final single from Sunspire’s debut album. This track is the closer for the album and acts as a summation and conclusion to the wonderful sounds explored throughout its’ runtime. Combining sombre acoustic guitar with reverb laden swirling guitar and whispered vocals creates a beautiful sense of calm and euphoria.

“‘Ruins By The Sea’ is my first fully produced album, and the culmination of two years of songwriting and producing. The first demo for the opening track, ‘Sirensong,’ was completed in July of 2020 in the midst of the UK’s coronavirus lockdown. In comparison to much of the album, this is a rather gloomy track; inspired by myths of sailors lured onto the rocks by the siren’s beautiful song, it reflects a collective time of hopelessness in all of our lives. But, as the album progresses a general sense of hope is established – despite the occasional melancholy of the lyrics, I hope that the overall message is one of joy, a reflection of a year perhaps not so full of despair after all.

The album is a serious departure from my first EP, ‘Euphoria’ – the lo-fi production and vague lyricism of those songs has been replaced by cleaner, catchier songwriting, with new production methods being explored as the album progresses. The addition of a quality microphone to my bedroom studio has been hugely important to the more professional sound of this record; vocals are clear and with audible lyrics, and the inclusion of acoustic guitar on many tracks is a key addition to the sound of the album. In later songs, I also began to experiment with alternative guitar tunings, most notably my own adaption of Nick Drake’s most commonly used open tuning.

Lyrically, this album explores numerous themes – despite the sense of stagnation that 2020 introduced, personally it was a year of change, with a move across the country to the University of Birmingham. A lot of the record deals with the effect of that change, most significantly to relationships with friends and family – while some songs are wistful and reminiscent, there is a continuing sense of joy at life and change taking place, against the odds. Opening up to more personal lyrics has allowed this album to become something intensely meaningful to me personally – a record of the emotions, both painful and uplifting, that I have experienced over the past six months.”

Archie returns with the first single from his upcoming E.P. Gold Again features a driving post-punk bassline with warm chorus laded dreamy guitars, soft synthesiser, deep vocals and beautiful harmonies. The track was written in the summer of 2020 but was only fully developed in Archie’s small bedroom during the dark winter months.

The lyrics are based on a classic poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson called “The Oak”. The song went through a few different development stages before the final version you hear here today. Jasmine lends her soft voice and vocal harmonies during the chorus section of the track and also her film expertise for the music video which she directed and stared in.

Archie’s new E.P. will be released in September of this year and features his best crafted songs to date, telling his story of moving away and falling in love.
