“The core idea, the copper mountain from which the world tree grows, behind ‘Karn of Burnings’ came from a Bronze Age burial ground I visited two years ago. This visit largely changed my view of the world from a historical and especially ancestral perspective. ‘Aettarfylgja’ paints a picture of the people of that era. Lots of music in a small space.”

What would a Folkrim version of a dingy swamp sound like? The answer comes in the form of SUOHERRAN HOVI, the second single to be released from our forthcoming album ”EMBERS”. Where as the first single relied on speed to get it’s violent point across, this song approaches the problem from a different direction. The riffs are fat, chuggy and groovy against a straight pounding of the drums. Dirty, almost jazzlike instrumentation and arrangement lays a twisted layer in to the soup. And finally, a sprinkling of growls in the harsh Finnish language is set on top and the witch’s brew is complete.

The sing-along nature of the chorus is so catchy, you won’t even care if it’s sung in an arcane

Folkrim, emerging from the dark solitude of Finland’s western coast, has evolved from a one-man project to a fully formed folk-infused death metal band. Comprising drummer Eetu Ritakorpi, guitarists Iiro Sarman & Otto Hyvärinen, bassist Viktor Suominen, and frontman Erno Helander, Folkrim is ready to spread fear with their new full-lenght album, “Embers”.

“Embers” tells a twisted tale of descent, from a shipwreck through decaying marshlands to a grand epic of destruction. For the new album, Anthea has taken the reigns for a more DIY approach with vocalist Diego Valadez taking over also as the full-length’s producer along with bassist Eric “EJ” Guerrero in charge of music videos and photography.

“We released our debut album in 2020, but were, unfortunately, like everyone else, unable to tour or play live gigs. However, this gave us a lot of extra time to really craft this follow-up album into something special. Tales Untold was written and recorded throughout 2021 and I am so proud of the end result.” adds Valadez.

Fans of Anthea’s first album “Illusion” will enjoy this one even more. The difference with this next record is that Anthea has a more mature sound and has carefully thought out the ebb and flow throughout it. Their end goal is to give a very dynamic and cinematic album in which the listener feels as though they’ve gone through a grand musical journey once they’ve reached the end.
“We also wanted to create a sense of escapism while keeping one fit in the real world lyrically.”
Today in preview of the album, the band is sharing with fans a new music video for its title track. The opening song is about how art inspires new generations of art forms whether it be novels, music, movies, poetry, etc.

“I just find the interconnectivity of it all fascinating. This song itself wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the music that we were influenced by, and their music wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for what they were listening to, and so on and so on.“ says Valadez.

Brazil’s CARAVELLUS will be releasing their third studio album “Inter Mundos” via Rockshots Records on June 17, 2022. In lead up to its release, the band is sharing their first single “Memento Mori”
“Each song on “Inter Mundos” tells a part of the story. Arteiro meets DEATH in the song “Memento Mori”. In “Inter Mundos”, THE DEATH appears to Arteiro without a sickle or hood. She arrives smashing bones, in the form of a jaguar, named Caetana, and her three hawks: Sombrifogo, Caintura and Malermato. This personification of Death was created by the fantastic Brazilian writer, Ariano Suassuna. We have inserted it as a tribute to this great Brazilian writer.

Musically, “Memento Mori” is the most doom metal song in Caravellus’ discography. It’s an empowering, grooving and dark song! ” adds guitarist Glauber Oliveira.

CARAVELLUS brings the technical sophistication of progressive power metal while transcending the genre by writing amazing songs with masterful musicality and Brazilian cultural roots. Their arrangements and song structures are highly technical, challenging instrumental work with unbelievable melodic vocal harmonies. With elements of thundering metal, rock, jazz, classical, Brazilian folk rhythms, solos plus unstoppable guitar shredding and intense keyboards, CARAVELLUS emerges as a new bastion of Brazilian progressive metal.

CARAVELLUS was originally formed in 2002 by virtuous guitar player Glauber Oliveira as a studio project with session musicians. After the first demo recordings (2002 – 2004), the line-up was completed to include Daniel Felix on keyboards, Charles Erlan on drums, Paula Araújo on vocals, and Pedro Lee on bass guitar.

In 2007, CARAVELLUS released their debut album “LIGHTHOUSE AND SHED” via Erpland Records. After its release, the band parted ways with Pedro Lee, Charles Erlan, and Paula Araújo.

Beginning a new course with new members and new ideas, Raphael Dantas (vocals), Cleison Johann (bass), and Pedro Nunes (drums) were recruited towards the end of 2007 in December.

CARAVELLUS’ second album “KNOWLEDGE MACHINE” was released in 2010 by French label Metalodic Records. The sophomore full-length provided CARAVELLUS with a series of tours and important concerts as a support for bands Angra and Shaman.

Fast forward to 2018, CARAVELLUS began the process of writing and producing “INTER MUNDOS”. Deepening their Brazilian roots (such as maracatu, ciranda, frevo, caboclinho, coco de roda) combined with heavy metal, progressive rock, and jazz, the band’s present lineup consisting of Glauber Oliveira (Guitar), and Daniel Felix (Keyboards), Leandro Caçoilo (Vocals), Emerson Dácio (Bass) and Rafael Ferreira (Drums) have created a conceptual, technical and dense album.

Band founder Glauber Oliveira adds:

“The new CARAVELLUS album is the result of the musical maturation and refinement of the artistic mission established by this band. Culturally… If Brazil were a river, the northeast region of Brazil would be its source of this river.”

“INTER MUNDOS” is a concept album telling a love story between characters Arteiro and Aurora. The story takes place in the northeast of Brazil, in an unnamed village… with no precise location. It’s a kind of mythical place where the plot brings up universal issues, such as class conflict, corruption, religious intolerance, life, and death. The entire plot is steeped in a metaphysical atmosphere, where reality and fantasy merge seamlessly.

The album also features guests from Angra, Shaman, Sons of Apollo, and more.
