This release is dedicated to and written for all the people I have never met but have only read about. The innocent people who were out living their lives and one day, without warning, had them taken away from them. People who liked to laugh, dance, and love in the way that we all do, but cant anymore. All those names and faces, all those beautiful strangers…

So here are two songs, “Beautiful Strangers” as well as my cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “No Place To Fall” that I have been closing my live show with over the past year. I wrote Baltimore at the time I was conceiving both Singing Saw and City Music and recorded a version during both sessions with two different bands. I love the song dearly, but in the end thought that thematically it didn’t belong on either album, and thus have been waiting for this moment to release it as what it has always been meant to be – a single. I wrote this song after binge watching both The Wire and The Sopranos in a month period. I grew close to both series and felt I had formed a personal bond with many of the characters. It is meant to honor some of my favorites from both shows but ultimately I decided to tell the story within the landscape of Baltimore as 1) I liked the Wire more than the Sopranos and 2) I love Baltimore. It is a city with a giant heart and has remained one of my favorite places to keep returning to on tour. It is unique and beautiful and you cant mistake it for anywhere else in the world – Baltimore is one hundred percent Baltimore. All proceeds from both mine and the label side will go to the We Believe In Music education program, which provides “an innovative music education for Baltimore’s youth”. I do hope you enjoy both versions of the song and if you do decide to donate – thank you for contributing to a what I believe to be a great cause. Peace on earth.
