Finnish female-fronted progressive metal band Canvas of Silence present the Official Lyric Video for their new single “One With The Wind”, taken from their debut concept album “As The World Tree Fell”.

Inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s acclaimed film The Wind Rises, the song takes the form of a farewell letter — the last words of someone preparing to part with the world, leaving behind a message of hope, love and liberation. Musically, it merges haunting vocal melodies, soaring choruses, and intricate prog-tinged arrangements, in what the band calls “Prog-influenced Chorus Metal”.

“As The World Tree Fell” explores themes of collapse, rebirth, and the fragile beauty of existence — “One With The Wind” is a key emotional chapter in that journey.

For the full-length’s release day, the band is sharing their next music video for the track “Rainworld”, a track that almost ended up on the cutting room floor, the band explains:

“Rainworld was almost going to be dropped from the album. It is one of the oldest songs and Jaakko didn’t like it so much in the beginning and it is a song that he composed. Luckily we talked Jaakko over and now the song has risen as one of our favorites and strongest songs from the album. Lyricically it paints up a rainy and gray landscape of a depressed mind. Seasons go too slowly for this individual. He wants them to pass faster so that eternal sleep and rest would finally take place.”

Rockshots Records is proud to present melancholic Finnish metallers Decrowned’s first full-length “Persona Non Grata”, now available as of February 23rd. For this record, every member brought something to the table, but guitarists Jaakko Kauppinen (guitars) and Simo Puustinen composed most of the songs. Musically, the band takes a turn into heavier waters from its predecessors (EPs “Hansel’s Nightmare” (2019) and debut “Weight of The Dark Sky” (2018)), still keeping in mind the essence of Decrowned. Lyrically “Persona Non Grata” is a very dark album, reflecting things that pass through the generations, consuming us from inside. It is a description of a haunted future and the past that took wrong turns on personal and universal levels. This undefined black matter that flows ignoring time and reason is the unwanted entity… Persona non grata.

“We are so excited that our debut album “Persona non grata” will finally be released. Recordings started already in 2022 and the first intention was that album, but there were some roadstops here and there. We had to record bass tracks twice and also our mixing wizard Tero “TeeCee” Kinnunen had timetable changes because of his big contribution to Nightwish. This is also time to say huge thanks to Tero, for arranging time for us on his busy schedule and doing remarkable work for us.”

The album follows their two EPs “Hansel’s Nightmare” (2019) and debut “Weight of The Dark Sky” (2018), which garnered the “Newcomer of the Month” award from Finnish metal magazine Inferno.

Since its inception in 2017, Decrowned has been constantly evolving, progressing musically and its production both live and studio, especially with the aid of Tero “TeeCee” Kinnunen who has done a remarkable job of mixing the record. On “Persona Non Grata” fans will find a great number of variations, each song has its own identity but the themes of each are very relevant to one another.
“We hope the listeners will find their own personal ways to relate to the songs and also find the album interesting enough to keep finding new things and themes in it.” adds the band.

“Starting the album with a blast, “Mouth Leaks Black” is a song that we mostly just wanted to have fun with, it’s kind of playful but still serious enough with fun dark occult themes in play. Having an almost “punk rockish” theme in the chorus, some groovy riffing in the verse and maybe a bit of a chill mental trip on the later half of the song, this has become one of our favorites to perform live. This really gets us going on stage so we figured it’s the best way to get the album going, setting up the album with maybe a bit lighter tone than the rest of the album.”

Creating epic symphonic fantasy power metal combined with classical music, including choir, renaissance, and baroque elements, Finland’s CHAMELION, will be unveiling its debut album “Legends & Lores” this coming December 2023 on Rockshots Records.

Over the years they have released a few demos with various lineups. They now have a solid quintet of musicians that features founder keyboardist Marco Sneck, Tomi Viiltola (Vocals), Marco Sneck (Keyboards), Jari Satta (Guitars), Jukka Jokikokko (Bass) and Janne Kusmin (Drums).
Recorded in various studios and mixed by a legendary Tampere-based power metal mixer Jussi Kulomaa. Fans can hit the play button, and close their eyes to dive into a fantasy world where might and magic rules.

“It’s is pure Fantasy Metal. The album is meant to be heard from beginning to end, as all the tracks are lyrically entwined into a chronologically advancing story. There are heroes, elves, magical quests, and other fantasy elements to get listeners all inspired! It is 55 minutes of adventurous heavy metal.” says Marco Sneck.

Inviting fans last month on the band’s first quest with the track “The Shadowleader” https://youtu.be/y8M3o1j3amw, they are ready to tell their next adventure with their first song ever written and the album’s second single, “Hero’s Tale”.

“It’s a faster one and contains for example fast double bass drumming, a guitar solo, victorious chorus, and epic choir parts to name some elements of what you hear. Lyrically it’s a tale about the album’s main character, fighting for the good guys. This is what our fantasy metal is all about!” adds Sneck.

Powerful melodic Finnish metallers Dyecrest (ft. members Metal de Facto, Thy Row, Everfrost, Kiowan Dynamo) are celebrating the release of their new album “Once I Had A Heart” out now as of September 29th via Rockshots Records with a new music video for the track “Read My Mind”.
“Probably the oldest track on the album. This one was co-written by Kimmo Blom, too. Very straight-to-the-point, striking, and catchy song! Combination of heavy, pulsating verse and the adherent, sing-along chorus. Its story is about a situation where a person realizes/understands that the relationship with someone else has reached the point of no return. Maybe the most defining line of the lyrics: ”No use in keep on wasting more of our lives…” adds the band.

“We’re all so very pleased and thrilled now that the album will finally see the light of day. It was a long – and bumpy here and there – road to this point, but it really was worth it. As said, we started the recordings already in 2020, and the original plan was to get the album out in 2021. But then there was COVID and also some health issues in the band, which altogether led to that it took this much time before everything was settled!

The album is totally intact as a whole. This time we had a very different basis for working on an album than the previous time with AYNE? At that point, we hadn’t released anything in 13 years and were “re-activated” only a couple of years earlier.

“The album overall is a tighter package than any previous Dyecrest album, and it lifts the band to a whole new level, for sure! On the album, there are some songs which have been written already some years ago (for example “Read My Mind” and “Man Made God”) as well as brand new songs, such as the title track “Once I Had a Heart”, the crushing opener “Sacred Sleep”, the bouncing and heavy “Oathkeeper” and the majestic and powerful half-ballad “Fire From Your World”, which also ends the album with it’s the heartbreaking atmosphere.” adds Niko Takala.
Guitarist Matti Pasanen also adds:
“This is the album, which in my opinion is reflecting the sound of Dyecrest in the best way so far. Heavy, yet atmospheric and also a bit progressive musical elements are combined with meaningful lyrics and intriguing melodies!
On this album we were able to build up layers, which aren’t “chewed ready for you”, but which you have to find out by listening to the songs over and over again. And those layers can be found both in compositions as well in lyrics. “Once I Had a Heart” is truly the album out of which I can honestly say that “Hey, check this out, THIS IS DYECREST!”
This time the Dyecrest-way of songwriting (meaning that we are writing the songs as they were meant purely and just for ourselves) has created the heaviest, catchiest, and also the most beautiful Dyecrest songs so far.”

The whole band continues:
“We want to dedicate this album in the loving memory of the band’s former singer, friend, and brother forever, Kimmo Blom. Kimmo sadly passed away in the fall of 2022. We feel privileged that there are three songs on the album which we have written with Kimmo, and that we had the chance of having him as one of the backing vocalists on the album. “One day we’ll meet and rock together again – there, Where the Light Was Born!”
