]]> The term ‘back from the grave’ takes on a whole new meaning with the release of this (thought to be long lost) epic recording by the much-missed British Doom Metal lords: Cathedral. ‘Society’s Pact With Satan’ was the last ever recording made by the band, back back in 2012. It was recorded at the end of the sessions for their swan song album; 2013’s ‘The Last Spire’.
But, for some reason, the 30-minute track was not mixed at the time, thus pretty much forgotten about by everyone involved, until very recently. Rediscovered by producer Jaime Gomez Arellano, whilst sorting through his old studio recordings, he excitedly alerted the band, saying that he had discovered a long-lost gem. Upon hearing it, the band members were convinced enough to agree that it should see a commercial release.
So, here we have it: the final sermon by Cathedral and what a way to go out. It’s an unapologetic, uncompromising exercise in macabre observations, musical eccentricity, brutal riffing and general arcane self-indulgence. There genuinely was/is no other band like Cathedral.

‘Society’s Pact With Satan’ is released via Rise Above Records on October 3rd 2025.

]]> Taken from the forthcoming (previously unreleased) third album by Julian Jay Savarin/Julian’s Treatment – Beyond The Outer Mirr. Soon to be released by Rise Above Relics.

Julian’s Treatment were formed in late 1960s London, at the tail-end of the psychedelic era, which morphed into the early progressive rock scene. Band leader Julian Jay Savarin, of French/Mayan descent, left Dominica in the early 60s to study law in the UK. His fascination with space and aviation led him to join the R.A.F. before immersing himself in London’s exciting underground music scene.

The cosmically enhanced debut (double concept) album by Julian’s Treatment, titled: A Time Before This, was released in 1970 and has gone on to be a cult classic of the era. As Julian turned his talents toward becoming a prolific Science Fiction writer, Julian’s Treatment stepped away from the live arena. As a result they became a studio band with new members, including the enigmatic (former Catapilla) vocalist ‘Lady Jo Meek’. A second album was recorded with this new line-up, as a companion to Julian’s first book: Waiters On The Dance, being published in 1972. The album, of the same name was released in early 1973.

Since then, Julian went on to have an impressive volume of acclaimed books published in his name, though nothing has been heard of him musically. Little did we all know that a follow-up album to Waiters On the Dance had been recorded in 1974 but, for whatever reason, it has never seen the light of day, until now!

Beyond The Outer Mirr is, undoubtedly a holy grail from the golden era of early progressive rock. Vocalist, Lady Jo Meek, puts in an incredible performance which will leave listeners stunned.

La band presenta così questo nuovo singolo: “Inedia” è una suite di ben 6 minuti che dilata il classico sound della band verso nuove sonorità con sfumature di stampo progressive ed al cui interno si possono trovare dei versi energici e un ritornello melodico e potente. Il brano è una riflessione sull’alternanza percettiva di alcuni momenti della vita; gli alti e i bassi dell’esistenza con cui confrontarsi. A volte sembra di “non riuscire a leggere più nulla nello sguardo degli altri…”, la sensazione di tedio infinito può avvolgerci o farci risvegliare.

Proseguendo sulla scia dei precedenti lavori, “Perpendicolari” (2017) e “Angelica” (2021), le otto tracce del nuovo album sono state registrate presso i prestigiosi Fusix Studio sotto la sapiente guida di Andrea Fusini, noto per le sue collaborazioni con artisti di spicco come Ready, Set, Fall!, Delain e La Sad.

Gli Ozora continuano a stupire il loro pubblico con un suono unico che attraversa con maestria svariati generi metal, rock progressivo e rock alternativo, arricchendoli con nuovi suoni e arrangiamenti originali. Il loro cantato in italiano, le complessità strumentali tipiche del miglior progressive e l’energia travolgente del rock si fondono armoniosamente creando un’esperienza musicale senza precedenti.
