Birthed to travel the cosmos, Italy’s Vanderlust is a power-heavy metal band with prog-thrash influences that tells tales of space travels, astronomy, space engineering, and sci-fi adventures.

“We tried to mix a prog-thrashy riffing in the roots of Megadeth, Vektor and Tool with epic vocal parts like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Angra, and Lione’s Rhapsody. We also put sci-fi elements in our songs, so you can hear also something from Voivod.” adds the band.

This debut recording is like a stellar system with 12 different planets. The star at the center of the system represents the heavy-power metal around all the songs revolving. Despite all the tracks being irradiated by the same light, they are all different from each other. Vanderlust has fast thrash, slow and doom, shiny and brilliant to grunge, and darker songs. Like planets, which appear like simple small bright spots, but in reality, are all big worlds, Vanderlust’s songs are more complex than they sound at first listen. In fact, you can easily sing along to some of the choruses even if there are complex riffs in the background. Vanderlust is particularly proud of the participation of opera singer Letizia Cappellini who does vocals on select tracks and helps the band further expand the vocal register of their compositions. The band also adds the presence of synths and electronic elements to the compositions to set the sci-fi mood of the lyrics.

Vanderlust is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Angra, Tool, Helloween, and Vektor.

3 Suns is another classic metal song; it starts with a slow intro based on vocals, bass and guitar with some cymbal sounds and then turns into an aggressive song. It has Iron Maiden inspired riffs and vocal parts. The instrumental section has some sci-fi sound effects. The lyrics talks about a space travel towards a better and shiny place. Dream or reality?

La band OZORA nasce nel 2016 da un’idea di Danilo “Sakko” Saccotelli (ex batterista dei Braindamage) e di Paolo Marreddu già insieme negli anni 90 in un progetto chiamato Umanoia. Entrambi provenienti dalla scena Prog/Metal piemontese nata alla fine degli anni 80, e forti dell’amicizia nata in quel periodo, hanno incrociato le loro rispettive band su molti palchi di locali e festival alimentando la florida scena di quegl’anni.

Nel corso del 2016 entrano a far parte della band il bassista Luca Imerito e il cantante Sidney Silotto.

L’obiettivo degli OZORA è rielaborare il concetto musicale heavy/rock italiano del passato (Ritmo Tribale, Movida, In.Si.Dia, Negazione, Bluvertigo) e miscelarlo con suoni moderni e venature progressive (i riferimenti iniziali sono il cantautorato italiano, Mastodon, Tool, Porcupine Tree e il Prog/Metal nella sua interezza).

Da questa improbabile miscela nascono le composizioni del primo disco, “Perpendicolari”. La fase compositiva, con qualche battuta d’arresto, porta alla pubblicazione dell’album nel 2017 sotto l’ala dell’etichetta Rockshots Records.

Gli immediati responsi positivi e quasi inaspettati, spronano la band a costruire subito un live set in grado di rispondere alle numerose richieste che stavano arrivando.
La band propone alcune date live, una delle quali come opening act dei Ritmo Tribale. Ma dopo i primi concerti, la pressione e alcuni attriti personali, la band si separa dal cantante Sydney bloccando, di fatto, la promozione dell’album.
La band, motivata e fermamente convinta del nucleo che ha portato “Perpendicolari” ad essere apprezzato e valorizzato non solo sul territorio nazionale, inizia la ricerca di un nuovo cantante. Arrivano demo da tutto il nord Italia da validi cantanti intenzionati a colmare il vuoto lasciato. La scelta cade sul “vicino di casa” Davide Conti, conosciuto nel mondo della didattica vocale e con alle spalle diverse esperienze da professionista e serrate tournée nell’ambito della musica d’intrattenimento. Reduce da un disco solista uscito nel 2015, sentiva la necessità di tornare alla composizione in una band.
L’esordio live degli OZORA versione 2.0 convince il pubblico. Ad aprile 2019 partono i nuovi live nei quali onorare il disco “Perpendicolari”.

Nello stesso periodo inizia la scrittura di nuova musica. A luglio 2019 esce il singolo “Un nuovo Giuda” che mostra tutta la nuova forza degli OZORA. Dopo un anno di lavoro la band è pronta ad entrare in studio di registrazione. “Angelica”, il nuovo disco, edito da Rockshots Records, viene marchiato a fuoco da questo sodalizio di persone. Porta con sé nuova energia acquisita anche da scontri caratteriali ma con in primo piano la dedizione viva verso il progetto comune. “Angelica”, registrato dopo il primo lockdown uscirà il 25 Giugno 2021 ed è un manifesto di fragilità, rabbia, speranza, follia e costruttività.

Nulla di melenso o retorico. OZORA vi sbatte in faccia la realtà, non da nichilisti, ma da quarantenni romantici e incazzati.

La band OZORA nasce nel 2016 da un’idea di Danilo “Sakko” Saccottelli e di Paolo Marreddu, provenienti dalla scena Prog e Metal Piemontese nata alla fine degli anni 80, e da Luca Imerito, bassista degli Zero to None e Braindamage.Passano gli anni, le esperienze e i tour ed in quell’anno si uniscono, con l’intento di rielaborare un concetto musicale heavy/rock Italiano del passato (Ritmo Tribale, Movida, Insidia, Negazione, Bluvertigo) con suoni moderni e venature progressive (i riferimenti iniziali erano Il cantautorato Italiano, Mastodon, Tool, Porcupine Tree e il prog Metal nella sua interezza).

Da questa improbabile miscela nascono le composizioni del primo album “Perpendicolari” con alla voce l’ex cantante dei Sindrome Motoria e L’inferno di Orfeo Sydney Silotto.

La band riesce a proporre una serie di date live nel nord italia, alcune delle quali insieme a Ritmo Tribale, con un ottimo riscontro dal pubblico. A fine del 2018 Sydney viene sostituito da Davide Conti, cantante dalle varie esperienze pregresse, decisamente conosciuto nel mondo della didattica vocale, e che ha vissuto il vero professionismo di palco con tournee esasperanti nella musica d’intrattenimento, e che, reduce da un disco solista nel 2015, aveva una gran desiderio di tornare nel mondo della composizione.

Da questo incontro ne esce un primo singolo, “Un nuovo Giuda” nel luglio del 2019, che apre la strada per nuove composizioni che prenderanno forma a fine 2020 negli studi del produttore Andrea Fusini (Be The Wolf / Diecicento35, Melody Fall). Il risultato è un secondo disco, evoluzione sonora della band, che spazia dal pop/rock all’alternative metal con arrangiamenti al limite del progressive.

“ANGELICA”, il nuovo disco, sempre edito da Rockshots Records viene marchiato a fuoco da questo sodalizio di persone. Porta con se nuova energia, acquisita anche sulla base di scontri, caratteri diversi ma con la dedizione ad un progetto comune. La musica ha dato voce a pensieri uniti e convergenti in ogni argomento in maniera spontanea. Poi è stato tutto codificato e portato ad una forma, per potere farlo evolvere. E’ il racconto di un profugo, che si trova a prendere la via del mare, abbandonando tutto ciò che aveva alle spalle: la propria terra, i campi, bruciati. Tutti attorno a lui scappano, con appresso le poche cose rimaste. Ha nella testa un’immagine di mondo nuovo, quello ammaestrato, verso cui tutti cercano di approdare. Una speranza che però non è nient’altro che acqua, sui cui è riflessa la meta sognata. Ovunque vada trova rabbia, sputi, insulti.
