A MILLION WAYS TO DIE – I May Have to Leave You (Lyric Video)

‘I May Have to Leave You’ is the third single lifted from A MILLION WAYS TO DIE’s 2025 album ‘What Lies Beneath’.

I’ve lived in this city my whole damn life
I’m battered and hardened but sharp as a knife
The lost city I love but so many despise
there’s no in-between in a city like ours

With the fumes in my veins and the tar underfoot
With the trees and the pavements and the crisp morning breeze
And the flickering lights and the shots in the night
With the grinning skyline with fangs that bite

And the screams and the bangs and the sirens and fights
The hooting and swearing and potholes and shite
The thin, thin air and the barking of dogs
The winter mist and the frost on the ground

To balmy days and the New York sunsets
The green of the trees in the forest we made
But I may have to leave you, I may have to go
But I may have to leave you, I may have to go

The poorest of poor, and the richest of men
Who live with the love and the hatred and fear
Who live more in a day than most do in a month
They’re the people I love in this city of mine

This feels like a breakup, and it’s not what I want
It’s not you, it’s me, and it’s a hard thing to fight
Things are out of control, and I have to move on
I’m doubting myself, but I know that I must

So I may have to leave, things are falling apart
I know I’ll be back soon, with my hand on my heart
I’ve been blessed and devoured by that soul of yours
I’ve been torn up and broken by the lessons you’ve taught

I don’t know what I’ll do for my daily fix
Of the taste of the city that runs through my veins
It’s been my home and my life for sixty odd years
And try as I will, I’ll never get rid of you
Because you’re a part of my blood, and a part of my life

It’ll stay in my psyche, it’ll be with me tonight
Like a dog with a bone, or a light in the night
I’ll miss you and feel you, in the pavements I’ll walk
But I may have to leave you, I may have to go
But I may have to leave you, I may have to go
