In September, Big Thief released their “thoughtful and moving” (NPR Music) new album, Double Infinity. The album quickly garnered widespread praise from fans and critics alike, including The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Paste, Stereogum, and more, with the latter praising the album as “life-affirming.” Now, on the heels of the band’s sold out Forest Hills Stadium show—their largest New York headline show to date—they share their performance of the “attention-grabbing stunner,” (AV Club) “Grandmother” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The song was performed by an impressive 12-piece band including Lenker, Meek, Krivchenia, Joshua Crumbly, Laraaji, Jon Nellen, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, June McDoom, Alena Spanger, Michael Buishas, and Adam Brisbin.
Last night’s performance captures Big Thief’s magical energy on tour, which continues in Raleigh tomorrow night. The extensive tour has included stops at Berkeley’s The Greek Theater, Los Angeles’s The Hollywood Bowl, Boston’s MGM Music Hall, and their first-ever show in Mexico at Teatro Metropolitan.
