Three piece gothic alt-rock band from Ōtautahi, NZ. Weaving themes of death, transformation and surrender through doom, shoegaze and post-rock landscapes A project born at the convergence of tenderness and turmoil, ‘Luna and the Aether’ are driven by a calling to bridge the gap between light and dark.
Their debut album ‘Metanoia’ – out July 31st – sees Lunas dark folk essence exist at the heart of the heavy instrumentation. Exploring repentance, alchemy, death and surrender through lyricism laced in imagery of temples, healers and spirituality. An album that takes you on a pilgrimage and speaks to something greater within us all. Blending together ethereal textures, heavy rock elements and vulnerability.
Gothic trio released leading single ‘Mirage’ ahead of the forthcoming album with a music video that feels like watching a ritual take place. Filmed in the dead of winter on VHS, it is an intimate glimpse into the devotion and intention behind Luna and the Aethers realms.
Active since late 2025, Luna and the Aether have already released two singles with accompanying videos, played several sold out shows and have a full length album arriving July 31st.

‘Metanoia’ is a pilgrimage. Returning to self, to spirit and to love as an act of devotion, after so long drowning in darkness.
Through valleys of death and repentance, to mountain tops of forgiveness and surrender. This album is a very raw and honest quest to make amends with ourselves in times that aim to tear us away ourselves.
