Plum is widely considered a pioneer of the South African alternative scene, having first emerged in 1996. Known for their refusal to be pinned down to a single genre, the band originally built a reputation for blending trip-hop, acid rock, nu-metal, and alternative funk into a cohesive, often experimental sound.
