Bon Iver, Bon Iver (10th Anniversary Edition) Bon Iver

This June marked the ten year anniversary of the worldwide release of Bon Iver’s highly acclaimed sophomore release Bon Iver, Bon Iver.  To commemorate the occasion, the band and 4AD will release a limited edition reissue of the influential album – Bon Iver, Bon Iver (10th Anniversary Edition) – on CD and LP on 14th January 2022.  This edition features five songs from Bon Iver’s beautiful AIR Studios session, which captures the grand spirit of Bon Iver, Bon Iver and distils it into sharper focus, as Justin Vernon and Sean Carey perform the songs as a duo, on grand pianos and vocals only.  These versions will be available in physical formats and across DSPs for the first time.

The physical release of Bon Iver, Bon Iver (10th Anniversary Edition) features a blind embossed version of the original cover art and an intimate personal essay from long-time fan Phoebe Bridgers recalling how the “massive, sprawling, unbelievably complex” album brings about both yearning for yesterday, contentment for the present, and collective hope for the future.  The album’s iconic cover art has been reimagined to a minimal white-on-white, with a white LP to match.  The reissue will be available on Bon Iver and 4AD’s webstores, via digital streaming platforms and at local record stores.

In addition to the anniversary release, the band is set to perform at the newly-opened YouTube Theater in Inglewood, CA for two very special, once-in-a-lifetime performances on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd October 2021.  Tickets go on sale on Friday 20th August at 8:00am PST at boniver.org/tour.

After nearly two years without live music due to the pandemic, the anniversary shows will memorialise Bon Iver’s joyful return to touring.  As is the band’s hallmark, their live performances will offer audiences a quiet reflection on the past while revisiting Bon Iver, Bon Iver a decade later; moments for sincere gratitude for and celebration of community and togetherness; and an opportunity for the healing to begin as they work towards a brighter future.

The October shows will feature a resurrection of the iconic production used during the original album’s touring campaign in 2012.  In addition to breathtaking visuals, the production will also feature L-Acoustics’ L-ISA Hyperreal Sound technology.  A spatial audio technology that fosters a deeper sense of connection through live music, the L-ISA uses nearly 200 speakers stretching across and beyond the full width of the stage. L-ISA was first utilized at the Santa Barbara Bowl in 2018 and at select shows on Bon Iver’s US arena tour in 2019.  These anniversary shows will mark the first time the band has used it in LA, and the system’s first time ever in the venue itself.
