Drummer legend Vesa Aaltonen and his band release new versions of classic songs by the President of the Republic, Made In Sweden and Pekka Pohjola

The album, which will be released in March, will feature Jukka Tolonen and Jukka Gustavson

The president of the Republic Vesa Aaltonen, known as the drummer of the band and numerous other bands and projects, has recorded a new album with her bands in complete silence. The album, which will be released in March, contains new versions of the President of the Republic, Made In Swedenin, The Groupin and Pekka Pohjolan of classic songs, the birth of which Aaltonen has influenced in his time.

The new record takes care of most of the instrumental side Vesa Aaltonen Prog Band, with musicians from the slightly younger generation shining alongside their beakmen. In the line-up, the bass is already played as a veteran Jari Heino, the demanding guitar parts of the songs are magical Jere Haakana, is responsible for saxophone and flute parts Ilmari Rönkä and behind the keyboards, the familiarity of many projects is familiar Juha Kuoppala.

Aaltonen had been planning to make a studio record with his band for a long time, but in the middle of the musicians’ countless projects, time was always on the card. As the disease situation emptied the musicians ’gig calendars, the project quickly took root to a practical degree.

    – “I wanted to update the best prog compositions of the 1960s and 70s I recorded in the 2020s. The key idea was that the songs would be played live, crumbly, without aids, and with the help of today’s top musicians, contemporary sounds, and legendary visitors. And of course, for once, the comp is heard! ”.

The album of the drummer legend has gathered a familiar and well-known group of visitors. With three songs by the President of the Republic (Lounge, Milkyway Moses and Bargain) instead of guitar, Aaltonen ‘s former band colleague pops in the bass Jukka Tolonen. His contemporaries Wigwamin ranks as a session singer are enticed Jukka Gustavson, and like Cherry on a cake, in a few songs the acoustic guitar has stuck Jarmo Nikku. Although Gustavson sings almost half of the album’s songs, the release has also immortalized the voice of the younger generation as the singer Ella Tepponen versions two great Made In Sweden songs Sometimes and Where Do We Begin.

Produced by Vesa Aaltonen and Tapio Luoman recorded by Vesa Aaltonen ‘s Prog Band album Studio Live will be released on March 25, 2022 on CD and in streaming services. A preview of the upcoming album is to be served by Svartin YouTubeon the channel, which features the opening track of the album, sung and played by Jukka Gustavson Tell Me More.
