Dante Alighieri wrote it, Gustave Doré pictured it, and I wanted to hear it…
“La Divina Commedia” is a series of poems written by Dante Alighieri, where he tells his imaginary journey to hell, purgatory and heaven. It’s an important work as an example of how art, in every branch, can be creative and powerful. Even if they’re written by another person, books let you use your imagination to see the characters, the places where they are, their emotions, their situations… Personally, I think that we can hear them too. The imagination of Dante has always been an inspiration to me, and I wanted to honor him with this project that I’ve been thinking to realize for a long time.
This instrumental EP with three songs for each part is telling the original story from the beginning to the end, only with sounds.
The cover art is a transposition of Doré’s paintings, I wanted to honor him as well.
I also want to mention that this work is really personal, any other person who has the same idea can have a different point of view of what they see and what they hear, just like reading a book.
