Renowned pianist, harpist, composer / arranger in the field of free acoustic jazz Iro Haarla has signed a record deal Black Recordsin with and at the same time take a side step in the direction of progressive rock. Haarla has had a long career as one of the most original creative forces in modern Scandinavian jazz, which includes both collaboration as a life partner Edward Vesalan with like a wide repertoire of their own innovative solo recordings to a renowned ECM Recordsille.
Coming up in October What Will We Leave Behind Haarla has selected musicians whose playing is strong and expressive. The soon-to-be-released album is an ensemble in which each song depicts a place on our planet starting from a human song with an opening track The Song We Loaned From Our Children ending with a hopeful, beautiful song What Will We Leave Behind?. Between these songs can be chords from a bird lake, oceans, glaciers, rainforests, winds and the roar of mountains, but also a man-made city.
