“IT’S TIME TO WAKE THE SLEEPING GIANT…”
Keeping it loose, loud and fuzzy as hell, Mighty Elk is the long-awaited psych, stoner, space rock project of Mikey Tucker, singer with MAMMOTH MAMMOTH, and Simon Jaunay, guitarist with The Chops, Bury the Sound and ex-MAMMOTH MAMMOTH.
Formed in 2007, the Mighty Elk mission was to go deep into the sonic wormhole, explore new sounds and just ‘zoid out’ in the studio. Armed with a handful of songs the band, rounded out by Adam Kempster on drums and Mark O’Keefe on bass, recorded their debut EP at Bakehouse Studios.
Local radio picked up the single ‘Hurricane’ and the band played a few rare gigs around their hometown of Melbourne, Australia. The buzz was building until the freight train of MAMMOTH MAMMOTH’s debut album ‘Hell’s Likely’ was released in 2012. Mighty Elk was put on the back burner and the project was shelved. Until now.
Nine years and a whole lot of drinks later, the band realise it’s time to revive the beast and release the music they recorded and left undiscovered for all of these years. The Slow Burn EP is like a fine wine, it only tastes better and more potent with age.
The band is currently working on their first full-length album.
