Glaswegian drone duo Ommadon begin their UK tour with Nottingham’s doom masters Bismuth next week, so if your tinnitus has been feeling better recently, it’s time put an abrupt stop to that…
Ommadon are adept at cultivating humongous walls of noise, as their thick, oppressive sound makes full use of impossibly weighty drones and riffs that feel almost infinite.Their latest self-titled album is a great place to start for the unfamiliar, consisting of one mammoth 40 minute epic.
Bismuth are the perfect choice of support band too; they’ve been described in the past as “like Stonehenge, but music”, which should tell you all you need to know, but if you’re unfamiliar with Wiltshire’s most recognizable group of stones, then you should expect something enormous, vaguely mystical, largely inexplicable, and inconceivably heavy. Their debut full-length ‘Unavailing’ provides the kind of oppressive, haunting doom that’s bound to appeal to fans of bands like Corrupted and Burning Witch.
