Darkwave artist SOFT VEIN debuted in late 2022 with his haunting single ‘GIVEUPTHEGHOST,’ and its successor, an industrial-tinged dance track ‘VIOLENTIA.’ Earning a following from his releases and a string of select performances featuring previously unreleased material, SOFT VEIN is prepared to release his debut full-length effort ‘PRESSED IN GLASS.’
Blending influences from cold wave, industrial, and modern darkwave, ‘PRESSED IN GLASS’ sounds at times urgent and dangerous; a singular, cold vocal brooding over minimalist drum machines, metallic synthetic percussion, lurking synth basslines and haunting synthesizers, all flashing grainy pictures of desperation and lust in the dark. At other times, the record’s pulsing synth basslines and heartbeat drum machines give rise to a dreamy, darkly romantic sound, while a more surrendered vocal echoes over lush synthesizer and guitar arrangements.
Written and recorded entirely by SOFT VEIN, ‘PRESSED IN GLASS’ gets its finishing touch and lush polished sound thanks to the mixing and mastering skills of Ewan Alastair Kay, known for his work with KONTRAVOID, S.L.U.T. and other electronic artists.
The record will be available for streaming on all platforms, plus a physical release via vinyl and CD, on October 20th, 2023 via Artoffact Records. Look for the first new single from the record, ‘BLOODLETTING,’ August 2023.
