The Flying Detachment is a four-piece stoner rock band from Sofia, Bulgaria started in early 2014. Stylistically the band consider themselves “multi-phase stoner rock” and describe their music as “Heavy riffs, passionate rhythm and haunting harmonies all converge in music that is thick, dark, desperate, thrilling and headbanging.”

2018 saw the release of TFD’s debut album “Eyes In The Stars, Life In The Mud” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM1n_rb5ARw&ab_channel=666MrDoom)
Some videos, short tour and a few light shows later, the band is ready to release another three tracks, bearing the same characteristics, which made the first album stand out – well written material, good sound, intricate melodies and harmonies, heavy and haunting guitars.

The songs:
The Fractal – Being actually the very first song written by the band it remains one of their strongest live numbers (pre-covid at least). The lyrics although written as early as 2014 sound more current than ever – the daily repetition of seemingly meaningless experiences can truly be maddening, as we’ve come to realize ourselves. Each day is a fractal of the one before it. All these activities preoccupy the mind, leaving little to no space for creative thought, dreams and aspirations which are what breathes color into the world.
A Space You Made Me Face – Again a very early track it explores how the aforementioned experiences may turn you against your loved ones.
The Fracture – The Fractal’s brother. The sonic resemblance between the two songs is quite deliberate. If The Fractal is the locking into the ouroboros of life, then The Fracture is the long awaited realization of this vicious circle and the ultimate escape from it.
