In Abrasileirada, the power trio from Escada city, Pernambuco, Northeast of Brazil, presents
a powerful Stoner Rock based music, as shown in their 2018’s EP, but incorporates new
musical elements and heavier melodies. While listening to the album, it is possible to identify
influences from Stoner Metal, Groove Metal, Soul, Funk and some brazilian rhythms.
The 6-track album, mostly instrumental, opens with the groovy song “Desencarna”, which
alternates funk drum and bass lines with Stoner riffs, followed by the heaviness of “Charles
Creca (Assalto e Morte Siglo 21)”, a mainly metal song and first sung track of the album.
“Carol Carambola”, an instrumental single that was released on past May, third track of the
album, sounds like the Stoner Rock melodies explored on the Smoking Kills EP, influenced
by Macaco Bong and A Banda de Joseph Tourton.
“Monstro do Lago”, fourth album track that was also released as a single on social media,
brings back the heaviness in a Stoner Metal styled sound. After that, comes “GWFO”,
another sung track that is also the faster of the album, incorporating hardcore cadence,
metal vocals and an interlude containing a sample of the popular poetry from the region the
band comes from. As closing-album track, “Super Lua” comes with 7 minutes and 28
seconds of a beautiful melody and great arrangement, strongly influenced by the Space
Rock scene.
Altogether, it is almost 30 minutes of a Brazilian manifesto, putting the brazilian roots into the
soul of the Stoner Rock. The valorization of their roots can also be seen during the
production. The recording, editing, mixing and mastering processes were entirely done out at
HS Studio (Escada city, PE, Brazil), involving only professionals from their city, making their
region visible to the creative industry through the universal language of music.
“We have lots of talented music professionals here and we want to raise the culture of our
region using our music”, says João Marinho Chinaski, the band’s drummer and designer
responsible for the album’s graphic design project. “Our music reflects who we are: a rich
mix of influences and references, from instrumental rock to sung tracks; from heavy metal to
funk and soul music; from rock and roll to brazilian popular poetry”, reports Tomás Azevedo,
vocalist and guitarist.
