Acoustic hymn to freedom by Kauko Röyhkä and Riku Mattila

Jukka Perko as the soloist guest of the November walker

Kauko Röyhkä and producer Riku Mattila return together after a break of more than ten years. The result is a new single November Walker, a song of praise for acoustic music making and freedom. The darkly mystical, seductive pop and swinging song will be released as a foretaste of the duo’s third album coming out next year. As the instrumentalist soloist of the song, a soprano saxophonist Jukka Perko and is responsible for backing vocals Samae Koskinen.

According to Röyhkä, the project in a way continued where it had left off at the time, of course the background group and conciliatory approach have been renewed over the years.

    – “Riku wanted acoustic guitar, airy sound, melody, swing. The November walker was already in the session of the previous album ten years ago, but that was the case. Many of our new songs are nature themed. This piece is sung from the fall, perhaps also figuratively. Marko Timonen played drums, Anssi Växby bass, Samae Koskinen sang the backgrounds and we got another great phono solo from Jukka Perko. We are pleased with the outcome. And more is promised ”.

The couple’s previously released albums Kauko Röyhkä & Riku Mattila (2008) and Kauko Röyhkä & Riku Mattila: The two flew according to the wind (2011) were review successes. The duo’s third album is currently being worked on in Mattila’s studio and will be released in late 2022.

The November Walker will be published digitally on October 28, 2021. Daughter of Kauko Röyhkä Leila Välimaa has directed a video to match the mood of the song, which is now available for viewing Black Recordsin YouTubeon the channel.
